While at the Cape Blanco headland I talked with a 'Friends of Cape Blanco' volunteer guide, he told me that the project should be finished by mid July. Tours of the lighthouse are suspended during renovation construction but the Visitors Information Center should remain open. Below are pics from my visit. After visiting Cape Blanco, Jerry and I drove out to his favorite beach, Battle Rock Park. I took the photos below from a park overlook, if you look closely at the enlarged pics you will see rainbow colors in the wind swept surf mist. Below are beach level photos from our walk. The first two rows feature pictures with some interesting wet sand reflections. The last photo of this grouping shows some seagulls feasting on some exposed muscles during a lull in the wave action. Sometimes the surf action creates moisture that obstructs the surrounding Siskiyou Coast range, this day the views were clear and crisp. In the photos below you can clearly see the old growth trees on Humbug Mountain. Humbug Mountain is the tallest headland on the Oregon Coast (elevation 1,756 feet). We drove out to Paradise Point State Park before heading home. The first two images are views from the parking area looking south. The last photo shows Agate Beach and the north side of the Port Orford Headland. Oregon Pics Page ~ Click here for Past Oregon Pics ~ Email this page to your friends!
